Congratulations on the upcoming holiday - with Beltane, Walpurgis Night. Perhaps someone might think that it's late, it was May 1st. The point here is this: many people know that equinoxes and solstices fall on different days each year - this depends on many factors, primarily due to the fact that the calendar year (365 or 366 days in a leap year) does not coincide with the solar year (~365.24 days), but 4 other holidays from "Wheel of the Year" are traditionally celebrated on specific days of the Gregorian calendar:
I have long wanted to write a simple program that would calculate all 8 major solar holidays for a particular year, and finally find time for this, it turned out in JavaScript, you can see the source code right on the page:

I’ll say right away that the dates and times of the moment of holidays are indicated absolutly correct here only for 2021, it is a model for calculations here, and in other years the error can reach half an hour - due to the fact that the duration of a tropical year is not constant (the planets influence, the processes on the Sun, and a lot more then). In any case, it is interesting that many solar holidays are now celebrated in accordance with the Christian calendar not in the correct days, not at all when it should be:

- Beltane, Walpurgis Night, Floralia (and possibly modern Labor Day) in our time fall on May 5-6, and not 1.
- Lugnasad, Lammas, Makoviya (and possibly Perun's Day and Day of the Airborne Forces) in the solar time on August 6-7, and not 2.
- Samhain, Halloween, Kuzminki (and probably Christian Day of All Saints) are astronomically held on November 6-7, and not 1.
- Imbolc, Gromica, Groundhog Day (and hence the Roman Day of the Hedgehog) - February 3-4, not 2.

Probably, such a difference, in ~ 5 days, with these pre-Christian holidays can be associated with changes in the orbit or size of the Earth in recent centuries, or the force of attraction of objects around the Earth - this is not certain, you can only build hypotheses here.

In any case, according to the Sun - Beltane and Walpurgis Night this year will occurs on May 6 at 06:42 UTC+0. Congratulations again!

China’s solar industry is expected to transition towards a subsidy-free market which could begin as early as 2021, according to a new analysis of China’s solar industry published by Asia Europe Clean Energy (Solar) Advisory.

The Asia Europe Clean Energy (Solar) Advisory (AECEA) published its new analysis last week, analyzing a new consultation paper published by China’s National Energy Administration (NEA) entitled Work Plan for the Construction of Unsubsidized (Grid-Parity) Projects for Wind & Solar PV. It follows in the footsteps of China’s efforts to revitalize its solar industry after it took a significant hit in May of 2018 when the NEA essentially capped installations.

“This signals a permanent policy shift towards zero-subsidy renewables,” explained Jonathan Luan, an analyst with Bloomberg New Energy Finance.

Solar projects which require state subsidies have also all been put on hold and all provinces and regions have been prohibited from conducting any competitive bidding rounds for solar projects which require state subsidies until the NEA has confirmed the first round of subsidy-free projects.

Clean Power Sees First Win Over Fossil Fuels in Emerging Markets

Developing countries have added more clean power capacity than fossil fuel generation for the first time ever, charging ahead of wealthier nations in the global green energy push, according to Bloomberg NEF.

Wind and solar generation accounted for just over half of the 186 gigawatts of new power capacity in developing nations last year, according to BNEF’s annual Climatescope survey released Tuesday. Not only that, they’ve added more clean energy generation than developed economies, increasing zero-carbon capacity by 114 gigawatts compared with about 63 gigawatts in richer countries.

The findings show a turnaround from a decade ago when the world’s wealthiest nations dominated renewable investment and deployment activities. Many developing countries have an abundance of natural resources and lower equipment costs, allowing new renewable projects to become cheaper than fossil plants, according to the report.

“Just a few years ago, some argued that less developed nations could not, or even should not, expand power generation with zero-carbon sources because these were too expensive,” Dario Traum, BNEF Climatescope project manager said in a statement. “Today, these countries are leading the charge when it comes to deployment, investment, policy innovation and cost reductions.”
